I don't know much on the subject, but when I had him I repeatedly checked him over and over and over and over again for them. Never saw them. Then when I found him dead they were in his mouth. I even saw one burrow into the bottom of his gums. Lori also said that she has had a case with internal mites, and she only found out when one crawled out the snakes nostril.

ahhh, I see,
sounds like they started covering all open orifaces once the snake had died.
I have seen that before.
I doubt they were actually living inside the poor snake though.
sorry to hear about that.
Thats horrible.

The Petco In Davis Ca. was not bad. the snakes were all warm and they were healthy. They were repacing their temp and humitidy systems throughout Petcos and also their UV lighting. They have a great Aquarium section. I went to a Pet extreme once and was not impressed with that at all.

Um, okay, I am with you guys on the whole petco/petsmart thing..but I had to respond to this.
Boaguy, Mountain Horned lizards don't eat ants. The ones who are ant specialists are horned lizards AKA "horny toads"..and the australian thorny devil is an ant specialist as well.
Horned Mt Dragons do fine on a diet of crickets, mealies and pinkies. I had my male, Draco, for several years...just thought I'd let ya know.

Yes i would compleatly agree with you that the people at petco do not really know what they are doing. Also their animals aren't being treated very well either. I live in Wisconsin and i was at the Petco in La Crosse with my boyfriend and they had baby boas and they all had mites and one of them had mouth rot. It was the saddest sight i have ever seen. Alot of the people who work there don't have reptiles and do not know how to take care of them. There are a FEW people who do have reptiles and do know a thing or two but that would be about it. It is just sad to see all those reptiles so sick and so uncared for.
