Not to detract from the original topic, but online petitions are worth about as much as the paper they're written on (sarcasm). They are merely a feel-good measure that has no actual weight or bearing.
If you want to feel a bit better about yourself, but accomplish nothing, sign an online petition. If you actually want to actually accomplish something, do it the old-fashioned way. One polite, tactful letter will get far more consideration than an online petition.

I dont know about anyone else where they live. But our local news station here in northern california did a investigation about Petco. Was on the news lastnight. Haven't had a chance to watch it yet. I just Tivo'd it and went to bed.
Anyone else see it??

Well, I don't have one back home...but this week I'm in Holyoke, MA...and the petco here actually seems to take decent care of their reptiles...all had good color, didn't look dehydrated, weren't crowded...but I"m sure that that is few and far between...

I dont know people.
As much as many petcos take poor care of their animals, I am still for EDUCATION over a "ban". You ban petco from selling herps, and it is just another step/example used to further the ban on reptiles across the board.
BTW, our petco is not so bad either. They give our free care sheets (that i checked over) and their cages are clean. Actually a lot better than some of the other pet stores in this town.
Now I would never encourage buying from a petco, but I cringe at the call for a "ban" by reptile enthusiasts who are fighting against a "ban" themselves.
We need to be careful.

Although I agree that a ban might not look good, it's aimed at ALL live animals, not herps alone so it will draw no attention to herpers.
I also agree that it will do no good. On-line petitions are a dime a dozen.
BUT, I've seen petco's near me and it's just awful. If nothing else I hope it will get enough attention that a petco CEO will try, just TRY to ensure better care and education of workers and animals.
Nobody likes bad PR, so you never know.
Mine made 4,660.
Just my .02
