thanks alot lori, i fully understand now what the problem with them is. i live in a small town in south eastern kansas, and have a very short supply of reptile dealers/ pet stores. the pet store that i used to deal with went out of business so i have had to deal with others. the way that the reptiles are kept is quite disturbing. i went to a nearby town to look for a new addition to my family, and what i say was down right upsetting. i saw a retic that had no water and had not had for some time. and i too saw a bunch of little balls in with a red-tail. also with no water. etc-etc.
the problem is this stores has been turned in several times and still, you guessed it-they are still selling herps.
the latest incident with them was an empolyee was injured by a large burm, after i got the whole story i understood why he got injured. never touch the rats and then try to play with a large burm.

Yeah snake, Petcos and stores like it dont need to sell animals. Period. Its down right pitiful what they do to them and how they keep them. I feel sorry for them and wish i could buy them all if i had the money. They are so expensive that its no wonder others dont buy them.
I was about ot add or someone get hurt by larger animals when i seem employee injured.
LOL yeah i guess now he knows not to smell like food, when you go in with a large hungry Burmese. LOL Sounds like he learned his lesson hopefully. Or pity him.
Round here the PetsMart(similar to Petco) are pretty good at keeping animals. Usually always clean, except when they let smaller kids hold their animals. thats their only fault, cause they had 2 geckos loose their tails cause of kids. Their cages are always clean, they have an exotics vet, and a reg vet on hand in store. LOL since they have a vetenary and grooming service. I personally dont go there for my reptile vetenary care tho.
Jessy!

There isn't any Petco around here where I am. However, there is several other stores like PetSmart and others. Even on my trip to St. Louis the stores made me sick. There don't have the proper skills to care for reptiles, give out information that they make up to convince you to buy the animals and it is always a fluke. None of the reptiles have proper heating, water dishes, lightening (those that require it like Iguanas). I remember my trip to St. Louis last month getting kicked out of Tropical Pet World almost for telling the manager how they need to properly care for their reptiles and flaming him for having like 30 baby Ball Pythons in a 10 gallon tank.
