I don't know much about Tegus. But you have a nice pair of them there.

They rule the house...Nico likes to go into the childrens playroom...walk around a bit then stroll over to my bedroom and think no on would notice a tegu watching a Mickey Rourke movie with me.....he does try to blend but it doesn't work.
Thats when I carry him back down and lock his cage.
Adorable but very persistant.

Those can't be 5 ft. Look at the tiles they sit on. Each tile is 12 in.

Yeah, the standard size for tile is around 12 inches or so. Unless Nicole gets large pieces of tile somewhere.

That photo was from last year so they have grown alot since then. They are about 4 feet long--the female a few more inches and the male a few less.
Bert has a 5.5 foot tegu at agama international. This is not typical but it can happen.
Their temperaments are wondeful...they love exploring and get handled all the time. They were tame out of the box. Really nice easy to care for lizards...the do require fairly large cages but they get most of their excercise walking around my house
The male scratches at his cage door until he is let out--- the female will come out when you keep the door open long enough...but she really enjoys her cage more then the male...the cohabitate nicely together
