I went looking to pick up a couple of Leos for my son, he's been wanting a lizard of some kind. I looked at them for a while, then scanned the rest of the critters at PetCo and this little guy caught my eye. The colors and the scales, he's beautiful! I couldn't resist, I gave up the notion of getting Leos and took this little dude (with an attitude) home...

He's only managed to bite me once so far but I had some thin gloves on. Doesn't feel like he's got much for teeth, but he can sure clamp down pretty good. I have a caresheet or two with all the general information, but I know there's a lot of folks on here with a lot more knowledge. Is there anything in specific I should watch for or be aware of?

Dave

Give him/her plenty of hiding places, and enough substrate to burrow in.

Other than that, they are pretty straightforward.

I have heard they like high humidity, but I always kept them under standard cage conditions,
I had one live for 6 years with just basic care, feeding every other day, cage air temps around 80 with a warmspot (where he spent nearly half his time) that was around 90.
I fed the ones I worked with pink mice, crickets, waxworms, superworms.
I knew some people that would offer them dog food, but I was never convinced that it was a good idea, so I stuck with normal food items.

Good luck, they are cool lizards.
