Re: Desert Horned Lizards
Yeah, they're just little guys right now, but they are chomping down the ants every day.

Re: Desert Horned Lizards
Not right now and I try not to bother them at night. If you nag on me enough I might remember to get some tomorrow or soon though. It's pretty simple though...terrarium with about 1.5 inches of sand in the bottom for burrowing. A big rock (more for my sake than theirs). They like wide open spaces, so It's a pretty empty enclosure. I have a small water dish in there, but that's practically pointless, since they gather water on their backs and channel it to their mouths. I spray them every other day for water and it's pretty cool to watch them channel it into their mouth. UVB light on the cage as well since they need the UVB.
I have them in a 10 gallon right now since they are so small, I've been on some other forums where the decision is kind of split on that though. Some say it's too small and I should upgrade now, others think an upgrade would be a bad idea and they should stay in the smaller cage until they get a bit bigger. So I'm kind of playing it as it goes. If they have any problems, or start refusing food then I'll move them up to a bigger enclosure and see how it goes.

Re: Desert Horned Lizards
They're so cute! I've always admired them, but I'm too scared to attempt keeping them...the whole ants thing really deters me. Sad thing is, my boyfriend is really well versed in their husbandry.
