Re: My Water Dragon
I don't think that just changing the cage and substrate will make him better if he isn't eating, but thats just me <(^>^)>

Re: My Water Dragon
with a substrate like that, its probably hard for him to find the crickets. i suggest getting a large rubbermaid container, about 8 inches high so the crix cant get out(clear container) feed him in there so he can find all his food easy. and i would also bring him, and a fecal sample to the vet. if he hasnt gone yet.

You'd be very surprised... Water dragons (namely young ones) are very stressy.
Brian, you may also try mealworms and waxworms. You can put them in a dish and they won't crawl out and be so hard to chase down. Make sure you dust them well. Are you offering greens? They need to be chopped up into bite size peices.
What kind of UV are you using? What kind of supplement?
Are you misting him with water? Is he defacating regularly? Does he appear to be soaking or spending time in the water at all?
Also you might try putting him in a different container with paper towel substrate just for feeding crickets...Might make them easier to find.
Just a small plastic tote with a lid would serve that purpose. Then at least you could watch him and see if he eats, he may not being in a different enclosure, he may stress out, but its worth a shot
If he continues to not eat you might have to intervene and puree some food and give it to him through a dropper. If you need help PM me.

Re: My Water Dragon
voodoo everything is perfect for the most part....uva/uvb light and i switch to a night glow at night...mist all the time humidity is usually 80-90....temp is usually 100+ if he climbs the vine to the hot spot about 88+ in the regular hot area 85- in the cool area. has a water dish sometimes at night i can hear him splashing around in there. ive tried fruits and greens he doesnt like them.....i soak him about 30 minutes 3 times a week....he eats dusted meal worms i saw him grab a couple this morning before i left....

Re: My Water Dragon
As long as your humidity is up there, and temps are right, (which he's perfect where he is) and hes splashing around in the water bowl, I'd leave him alone as much as possible. I wouldn't worry about soaking him unless he gets nasty somehow. It is likely a stress factor. eep him clean water and feed him and leave him alone for the most part.
Right now he's still a bitty thing, and they are REALLY stressy at this size.
Start forming a bond when he gets a little bit bigger and you can let him out.
I wouldn't expect him to eat any greens or fruits/veggies yet. They are primarily carnivorous at this stage, and a few never really become complete omnivores. I'd keep offering minute amounts, but don't expect them to eat it yet

Re: My Water Dragon
ahem...you mean MY water dragon Harry.. and i already made an appointment to take him to a vet tomorrow. so...quit worrying about MY harry. p.s. i hand fed him this morning and was more active, less lethargic. but his eyes look sad.. he's probably stressed out.
