Courtney's uncle caught a green anole out in Fuquay-Varina which is about 20 miles south of Raleigh about a week ago. I thought green anoles ranged in Florida, Alabama, and Georgia, but North Carolina? I thought that was pretty far out of their range. But as some of you know, I'm new to the south here.
Oh yeah, where are all the snakes and lizards everyone promised me out here? All I've seen are a bunch of frogs and toads.

Hey Bry!
They only come out at night.
That, and in the mid spring/mid fall times. Then if you find a nice creek, you won't be able to move for the snakes.

I've seen tons of the anoles around Myrtle Beach, SC and have caught a couple in Bolton, NC (east of Lumberton) and on Oak Island, NC (below Wilmington on the coast). As for snakes, I've not found any to speak of, but I haven't been hunting on my buddy's new property yet either. I do know around Bolton (where my friend now lives) that venemous snakes abound on his property (cotton mouths and rattlesnakes have both been confirmed). The property borders a swamp and Bolton is smack in the middle of a bunch of swamp and wetlands. Because of the venemous, I've been hesitant to go poking about the drainage ditches for the fields where most of the snakes frequent and have been seen. The last thing I need is to get bitten because I just HAD to go poking about in the bushes. From what I've heard, the snakes on his land are mostly seen early morning or late afternoon - or whenever they farmers are clearing the fields. Happy hunting. Just be careful what you pick up!
