Help with Screen Lid
I have a 40-gallon tank. I've search everywhere but I can't seem to find a screen lid that fits my tank. I don't think they make a screen lid for a 40-gallon tanks. I've seen every size up to a 55-gallon tank, but nothing matches my 40-gallon.
I tried the Four Paws adjustable screen lids, but the width is an inch too short.
Anyone know where I can get a screen lid for my 40-gallon tank?
Thanks.

Make one...Go to Lowe's and pick up aluminum angles and mesh screen and Gorilla glue, Liquid Nails it to the frame. (hot glue doesnt hold very well, we found out)
It cost us about $10-15 to make ours for the 30gal (we already had the glue though ) You just have to be patient and glue one side at a time and let it dry.

Try any Petco or Petsmart. They sell them, and you don't have to build it

Yeah, I thought about making one. Will any mesh screen work? Will the mesh screen that we all have at our house windows be too weak to tears? Or should I get a aluminum mesh?

I did, but they don't sell/make any sizes for a 40-gallon. The resizable ones don't fit either.

Depends on what you are housing..The reason I say that is if it is a lizard that needs UV, you will need a wider mesh for the UV to penetrate the mesh. We bought a real fine wire mesh, like for a window screen or screen door, it was metal, because the other stuff melts under heat lamps
Good luck.

I will be housing four Long Tailed Grass Lizards. I know I'll need a UV source and a basking lamp.
I'm just not sure which type of mesh is right for me.

I might just buy one of the reptariums and cut out the necessary length to use as my mesh.

Dont use 'screens' for windows, you need a metal screen preferably not TOO fine of a mesh. (you want a medium-coarse screen) btw...this is not the TECHNICAL term typically associated with screens as far as I know, but its the only word I could think of. (the UV has to go through the screen, so the bigger the openings in the screen, the more UV gets through. The closer the openings in the screen, the less UV gets through.)
Good Luck.

That looks VERY fine, and also might melt against a heat bulb.

Would aluminum mesh work then?
If the worst comes to worst then I'll just buy the screen lid for a 50-gallon and place it on top of my 40-gallon.
