Horned Lizards
Long, LONG ago....when I was a little girl in Oklahoma, I remember my grandfather and I catching "horned toads" in the garden. I think they are correctly called horned lizards. I remember that many times I had blood squirted on me by a not so happy horned toad.(Then I had a not so happy mom) LOL They loved to bury themselves in the sand when frightened. They also loved to eat red ants. Does anyone know where I could get one of the little guys now?

I saw some nice ones at a reptile show in Tunica Mississippi. G & G Reptiles had them, but I cant find a site.. You could probably contact Next Generation Exotic Expos and ask for vendor contact info for G & G and call them and see what they have..The horned dragons they had looked to be in good shape with gorgeous reds and black colorations
Side note: There have been some random sightings here in Arkansas..They have been known to be in SW Missouri and NE Oklahoma, so its plausible theyd be here as well..

OOPS.....should of done a search here on the forum before I posted. Guess these guys don't do well in captivity. Oh well.....I still have the memories of them as a little girl!!!!

Horned Lizards I believe aren't bred in captivity because their diet is composed of nothing but ants, and they eat several hundred to a couple thousand daily. They are extremely difficult to keep in captivity.

Not if you live in my house....I have those  sugar ants!!!!!!!
Not any more since I sevin'd the place..but for a few days it looked like it snowed in here!
