Yeah thats not something you want for your animals..
Cant you avoid it with the proper calcium/UV requirements..?
Were they not doing the right nutrition lighting?
EDIT: Sorry that last question was sort of stupid...A pet store, take care of their animals  LOL I know it happens, but its rare..

Azriel is dong well. She suffered a broken arm when I first got her. It healed, but wrong. The petstore didn't cause her problems. Some idiot brought her in and wouldn't leave her with the store owner giving them some cash. So the store owner bought her for $20.
