No! definately not a good idea. I've had a look around for your blue tail skink an kind find a few references but not many, but their care seems to be the same as other skinks.'Cos you said your mom caught one in her yard i'm pressuming its a blue tail native to America and not the African type? The main problem isn't that they are from different countries but that they like different habitats. The skink like a desert set up with sand, low humidity and they do not climb where as an anoles set up should be on bark with plenty of climbing spots and they like a bit of humidity.
These are links to 2 care sheets which may help more, I know your skink isn't a blue tongue but I couldn't find a specific sheet for them.

Green anoles
Good luck with your skink, do you have any pics?

You couldn't find a specific care sheet because just about every skink in north american has a blue tail at some point in it's life. Georgia's skink species are about the same as North Carolinas
Coal Skink, Eumeces anthracinus (blue tail as juvenile)
Mole Skink, Eumeces egregius
Five-lined Skink, Eumeces fasciatus (blue tail as juvenile)
Southeastern Five-lined Skink, Eumeces inexpectatus (blue tail as juvenile)
Broadhead Skink, Eumeces laticeps (blue tail as juvenile)
Ground Skink, Scincella lateralis
Now, if the 8" measurement is accurate, that rules out the ground skink and the coal skink.
The broad head is the only one that gets much over 9", it can reach 13", thus an 8" skink with a blue tail native to Georgia leads me to believe it is a Braodhead Skink as it's conceivable for it to be 8" and still have a blueish tail...whereas the other species at 8" are almost maximum length and therefore would be unlikely to retain their blue tail coloration.

Broad-headed skinks are semi-arboreal lizards, that is, ones that spend a good deal of time in trees, where they search for food, sleep, seek shelter from predators, and brood eggs, but also spend much time on the ground. They usually occur in deciduous forests, reaching by far their greatest abundance in stands dominated by live oaks, especially large trees having holes. They can tolerate a wide range of moisture conditions from swamps to relatively dry upland with sandy soil.
Condition wise I think you could house them with an Anole, but size wise, I think the broadhead would literally stress the Anole to death, they get much larger both in length and bulk...

Well then, ya can't just rename your species on a whim!
<TABLE BORDER=0 ALIGN=CENTER WIDTH=85%><TR><TD><font class="pn-sub">Quote:</font><HR></TD></TR><TR><TD><FONT class="pn-sub"><BLOCKQUOTE> Yes blue tail skink not blue tongue.
</BLOCKQUOTE></FONT></TD></TR><TR><TD><HR></TD></TR></TABLE>
If we ALL did that then could ya see just how confusing it would all be?
" I have a non-furred, splotchy scaled red with tan and silver blue eyed whatever!
How do I care for it?"

The skink my mom got was in my yeard. I had him for 3 years. The one my mema got is biger & older than mine. but my mema said that she lives in a woods like me I live in a woods so the skinks both live in woods like tanks i think. I think I just confused my self.
