Good deal. Hopefully you'll see fast improvement. Any time a herp goes off feed for no apparent reason a fecal should be the first step. They get worms from pretty much any prey item that hasn't been frozen, including bugs.

I'm really really pleased you found a vet and hopefully have this guy all fixed up in no time now!

I'm not trying to be negative here --but he still needs all the things I just said....those meds alone will notbe enough---he's already dehydrated and weak.
I had a green wd and went through something very similar. The vet was a specialist and took him into the hospital and everything. They need ALOT of attention when they get this sick and for quite some time.
I had a friend who went through it and when I tried to tell her this she didn't believe me...just treat the animal like it's sick well AFTER he starts to look well.
They mask illness very very well these guys.

Yep, she's right again. My previous statement regarding fast improvement was based on the assumption that previous advice had also been followed.

I don't believe in light approaches, I think full honesty is best policy. Every post I make is made for the good of the animal.

no I mean taking a more subtle approach in handling the animal. Some are much more hardy and with the right meds and minimal handling can do great. This particular lizard needs to be handled with kit gloves.

Nicole is the Lizard Queen. Good save Nicole!
I hope this little guy makes a full recovery.
Good luck with him.

thats what the vet said too..."CWD;s along with some other lizards will be happy full of life and over the top full of energy until basically they just do a 180 change in life and kiel over dead"...thats what the vet told me....lol. she said he most likely came with the worms and that i should contact pet co...also that if he makes it like another week on meds he should be able to pull through i could easily buy another one, but once you fall in love with the cute little guys you don't wanna do that.
yah, ill be raising the temp in his enclosure and only feeding a very small amount...its a bear to get a CWD mouth open

You can take an eyedropper with pedialyte (or the reptile specific stuff hydralyfe) and put a drop or 2 on the lizard's nose, often he'll lick it off. Its time consuming but it often works.

You can use a small rubber spatula or a clean credit card to open the mouth----yeah they are not cooperative at all. I went through so much cash with mine---and to boot I bought him online from a breeder that ended up having the absolute worst reputation....I TRIED to buy captive bred but everyone was convinced I ended up paying out the nose for a wild caught one anyway.
I ended up really learning alot about waterdragons the hard way
Any WD you see in petco or most petshops are wildcaught....for $20 or less what do you think you're getting? And then I find out that many new breeders are not using uvb because of the expense----it all boils down to me never wanting to own another green wd.
I think they are beautiful, and sweet and interesting. But not worth all the heartache you get when things go wrong
Sometimes certain animals just do not do well in captivity--or perhaps --they do not do well as pets in captivity. We expect our pets to be healthy and give use years of pleasure. It hasn't been proven one way or the other if these guys even do well int he wild---or if maybe they are one of those species that are short lived and breed like mad because of it.
