Emerald Swift

My neightbors gave him to me last night, they had a pair but the female died last week, they didn't know how to take care of them, they were in a 5 gallon aquarium with sand, a heat rock and no UVB.

Pics of the little guy.

I was surprised too, my neightbor told me that he fed them crickets every other day, and that the female would not eat, he only had them for 3 weeks.

I don't have much experience with lizards, I already know about the lighting and heating, but I'm not sure about the substrate, and the vitamin and calcium supplements.

well they can eat more than crickets..like meal worms supers wax worms etc.. and they will eat occasional melons and leafy greens..

i cant remember the name of the vit and calcium stuff that i use but as soon as i get home i will post it..

and you can keep the lizard on calci-sand or silica free sand...and of course a UVB bulb

Well, you can feed them the vegetables as leth said, try baby food. Its tastey!!!!

You can buy the cricket dusting stuff anywhere, I dont know the specifications but I think I have to get some more as mine may have expired! Just put the crickets in a ziplick bag and shake-em-up with a bit of the dust.

dont keep them too hot, that particular species does better at lower temps, in the upper 70's to mid 80's.

Im not aware of any sceloporus that will eat vegetable matter, they are all primarily insectivores as far as I know.

I wouldnt be surpised if they occasionally ate some leaf of fruit, but I bet thats not very common.

what a gorgeous looking lizard!
Anything I can tell you would be second hand info off the net --I generally like to provide info that has been testing in my own herproom an I have never kept this species before.
But please, keep us posted because they really do look interesting!
