CWD Cage Ideas
I am thinking about building a bigger cage, and i'm looking for ideas. I'll tell you what I had planned, and if anyone has some ideas, I would be really happy to take advice:
I was hoping to build it about 5 feet long, 2 feet high and 2 feet deep.
I;m planning on putting plexiglass in the front, maybe one side, it depends, and on one half of the top(worried about humidity). The other side of the top will be metal mesh, and the rest of the sides, wood.
The dimensions may have to change because I am unsure about the sizes of the plexiglass sheets, and i'm worried about cutting.
Is there anything I should consider that I havent yet?

I think you need the cage to be at least a foot higher.....remember these guys are arboreal and come down to eat only.
You can make the whole top very large meshed wire (to allow uvb to come through with no problem) and then pipe in some humidity with a small timed humidifer and some hose.

You were the one who told me leavign the top open mesh would be trouble for the humidity...I think my cousin told me the plexiglass sheets are 4x3 or 4x5(feet), so...I may make it 4 feet tall.

just another option is all.
The thing with humidity is, it also breeds bacteria --so with no airflow (or too little airflow) a CWD might be put at risk for problems that way. They are very sensitive creatures....not enough humidity and they suffer those consequences too.
Juliussqueezer's idea (which he adopted from BW I think) is really the best for animals which require humidity--that rigged humidifier. I remember him saying he got a second hand humidifier from ebay and the whole set up was very inexpensive....if you PM him I'm sure he can dig u that thread for you.

not ebay...thrift store! 3 bucks! And yah, I stole the idea from BW but I think I did it a bit different. I found some drinking bottle/cup things with lids, removed the lids and drilled how many ever holes in the bottom of the bottles needed for how many ever pieces of vinyl tubing ...depending on how many cages this humidifyer was going to humidify. I have a few of these rigs. Here is a photo...it should be fairly self explanitory.

The ones with vents won't work, at least not the way I have it set up. The top has a hole with an inset tube the same width as the hole and the bottle just fits snuggly inside by pushing it in. The bottle is tapered so it snugs up after a couple of inches, leaving most of it sticking up. I tried just running the tubes straight in without a bottle but no fog would come out that way. This way, I get a nice steady flow. Go hit some thrift stores. All the ones around here have them all the time for 2-4 bucks. Or if all else fails, you can go get one at Walmart if they even have Walmart in Canada. I'm sure just about any chain drugstore will carry them too for 30-40 dollars...Or come to Georgia and I'll trade you one for a 1 liter Diet Pepsi.
