Hi, my boyfriend paul has built a gorgeous vivarium for our very spoilt rankins dragon in pine tongue and groove and its all finished and looking fantastic, he's varnished it several times with yacht varnish but how long do we need to leave it before its safe to put my baby in? also, i've got some brilliant pics of puff (the rankins) on my pc but do i need to pay for a photo gallery to display them on here?

Hi Sarah,
As for the cage, let it stay lizardless until there are no fumes left, which means that the finish is cured.

As for photo albums, Redtail does offer a 20 pic limit alnum for the amazing price of $0.

You dont' have to pay unless you want unlimited space. Just contact natas or lori and they will set it up for you...just remember that they are usually busy so if they don't reply back immediately don't fret...they will a.s.a.p.

I moved this to misc lizards.. If it's supposed to be in some other lizard forum just let an admin know and they'll move it there. I haven't much clue what a rankins is lol

Lori, I used to keep a Rankins Dragon, it is basicly a mini bearded dragon. They stay around 6-7", or at least that was how big mine was. Sarah&Paul, try Printroom for a free photo album with an unlimited number of pics, it's my favorite photo hosting site.

Lori, you have no idea what a rankins is????!!! ok, i'll let you off as you dont see them around much in the uk, not sure about the states. Anyway they're very closely related to bearded dragons (as their name Pogona Rankini tells you) but they only grow to 10-12" and dont have the spiny beard bit, other than that they look exactly the same and have the same character and personality, ours is so sweet and tamer than a lot of humans i've met!

Is the varnish toxic? Some are. Make sure that it is not. You never know the rankins might lick or chew away at the stuff. As for fumes, as long as you had it ventilated while it was drying, it will be no problem.
