HI again. My brother wants to get a Green Anaconda. Yes I'm serious though I wish I was not. I'm doing all I can to talk him out of it. He saw some ads for them, I agree with him, they are cute when they are little PLUMP little guys. They don't stay small for long though. SO I told him if he wants a big snake get a Burm like me, or better yet hold mine while I change out her cage after she craps! There are different reports on them. Some say they are quiet tame with work others say they are very nasty! I have only seen one up close. It was about 10 feet and was as tame as my Burm and she is a sweetheart. The guy who had it said they are the exception not the rule. I don't know what to believe but I don't want to see my brother on the news! Anyway thanks for any ifo on this.

Just curious... does your brother have any other experience with snakes (I mean, I know you do, but since it'll be his snake...)? If not, I'm sure you 've advised him about the enclosure size this snake will need as an adult! Good luck either way, though.

Yeah, the enclosure, a pool for it, (they do EVERYTHING in water)
its' size, their attitude, all kinds of things.
I would suggest that he do as much research as possible before deciding on anything, especially the local and state laws and ordinances.

While we're on the subject, does anybody here have any yella condas? I hear they are as nasty as the Greens, but they sure are good looking.

I have 2 Yellow Anacondas. One is 9 feet and one is 12 feet. The 9 footer is dog tame (though I dont give her that much credit, I still work with her carefully) and the 12 footer is MEAN!!! Last time I had to clean the cage, he struck repeatedly wide open mouth. I must say, that blue mouth is intimidating.

There's no sight in the world like the blue moth of a yellow comin' ata ya. Except for maybe the strings of saliva haning from a green's teeth as it strikes.
More often than not, the anacondas that I've worked with weren't especially mellow animals.
