I have a 3' Female baby Green Anaconda. She is not CB but she is already extremely tame, the only time that she bit me was when she was getting probed and of course I would do the same if someone did that to me. I handle her all the time. She has already started on small rats. I am currently in the process of getting her an extremely large cage already. I have a humidifier in her cage that keeps her humidity in the 65 to 70 percent range so she loves that. Well heres her pictures.

welcome to Reptilehaven / Redtailboa! You need to link the pics directly by right clicking them individually and going to properties them copy and pasting that onto the image option. Here they are. Pretty cool.

Wow, she's a beaut! But um, I think I'll leave the conda keeping up to you. Hopefully, you're one of the few who can manage to keep her as an adult.

NICE looking snakie ya got there !
The anaconda NOT only requires a HUGE cage set up in adulthood..BUT ALSO is one of the "aquatic" type ss and has further requirements for proper husbandry due to such also. Soo when ya looking into buying that pool again ? For the snakie NOT you that is lol.

I love Condas. May get back intot hemin the future. The most important thing to figure out when building hte cage is how to offer a pool she can fit all the way in, while still making it easy (as possible) to do a good clean when she deficates in the water (which will probably be most of the time. Great luck with her and keep us posted..

Thanks for the nice replies everyone. The pictures didnt turn out that great due to the camera that I was using, shes actually a lighter color than that. I have always had a facination for Anacondas and finally had the chance to own one now. I got lucky owning her as a first Anaconda due to the fact that she is CB and doesnt mind being handled at a young age which is really good and is a great far from shy feeder. The most challenging part of her husbandry will be keeping her in a clean, humid cage with an extremely large pool as you might as well put it when she gets to be large. By that point she will have an extremely large cage with all of her needs and more. I am all for keeping this quickly declining species alive . Their numbers are quickly declining due to its mysterious life and large size.
I know it will be a challenge but is well worth it if you or anyone asks me.

I realize that I noted in my first post that she was not CB but to find out she was. I thought it was kind of funny when I was first told by a lady at that pet store that she was not CB in that good of condition and extremely good on feeding. When I went back a week later and talked to the guy that owns the shop I asked him if she was CB or not and he said she was. Just wanted to clear that up. I think it's great that you have taken up a task of keeping such a facinating animal and good luck. I just have one thing to add and I hope you take it seriously. You said you got bit and it was ok, but just plan in advance for when she gets bigger. Anacondas are NOT tame, they may seem like it but they are true hunters. I had an adult green anaconda that got to be 24 feet, and keeping her was a trip! I got bit by her once, when she just reached 22 feet and it was not ok!!! Nevermind the pain, the actual bite was nasty. Because they have teeth that curve inside their mouths, I had to push my arm into her mouth even further to dislodge the teeth first, otherwise they might have broken and got stuck in my arm. Not only did I need help but also luck to try to get her off of me and my arm, and in addition that darn pig that I was trying to feed her was squeeking around me, making her bite me harder because she really thought i was her food. The would healed within 4 months and there's no trace of it now, but my memory of her bite turns on everytime i look at baby anacondas!
Just remember to always have 2 people to handle her once she gets bigger! Otherwise you might be stuck in the same position I was a few years ago, with the darn pig!!!

Dang sorry to hear about the misfortune. I fully realize there capability as hunters especially when they get large. Not saying it wont happen but I think theres a lot less of a chance of getting bitten if keeping her on a regular feeding schedule and regular handlings compared to if I didn’t handle her and let her go hungry. I took all of this into consideration when purchasing her, realizing that it would be no easy task but a huge responsibility. Thanks for the input its always good to hear others with their Anaconda's. They are absolutely amazing creatures. I fully respect an anaconda especially an adult. So do you still have your Anaconda? How large is it now and how much does she weigh, curious to how much one weights at that length. Also do you have any pics of her at all? Thanks again for the input and oh ya trust me when she gets over 10 feet long I will never be alone with her.

I just joined here, but I am quite experienced in keeping large boids. Trust me, she/he will bite you again. It is just a matter of time...accidents DO and WILL happen.

I just got a Green Anaconda
I just got a Green Anaconda myself couple weeks ago. Supplier said it was CB, but one rarely knows for sure. Anyway, it is very calm (so far) and feeding OK. It is 47". It's supposed to be couple months old, not sure that jives with 47" today; must have been a big baby! It is in perfect shape and calm, so I'm inclined to believe its CB. Anyway, I think the key is, as you stated, is to handle it virtually every day and be careful. And avoid stupid mistakes, especially SFEs. Not real sure of its sex yet, hope its a male...When it gets big enough, I'll probably use an extra bedroom for it (have older kids now, but not much longer...room should be free in a year or two). A "truly" calm and "tame" one is quite an impressive charge. When bigger, I think I'll try feeding it store-bought chickens (like you and I buy) about half the time. Will be interesting to see if it will accept them. Good luck with yours, would be nice to trade updates once in a while. Try not to get eaten. Regards.
