As If I Needed More Rainbows...

A few months ago I forgot about my whole "No more snakes until the new reptile room is finished!!" rule and dropped payment on a little male BRB who was born to a wild caught female, and is sibling to a female that could potentially be a new line of striped hypo.

His name was Pugsley and he was precious, and I've drooled over hypo BRBs for YEARS. First picture I ever saw of a BRB was actually of a hypo, and I was greatly saddened when I first saw the price tag.

But Pugsley was the right price, and he's a gorgeous little man, even if he never proves out to be anything other than a handsome BRB.

We're still waiting for the weather to warm up enough to ship, we haven't had a night above 40 degrees up here in MONTHS.

So the other night I saw another add on kingsnake from the same breeder for a couple of outcrossed 100% het hypo males he was letting go. I couldn't help myself!

Now I'm just waiting for the weather, so that Mica and Pugsley can get shipped up here and I can take lots and lots of pictures.

	Heterozygous Heterozygous - the animal carries the gene for a genetic trait but does not outwardly demonstrate the trait. Example: A boa that is het for albino looks normal but carries the albino gene. When it is bred to another het for albino boa or an albino boa, a percentage of the offspring will be albino.

	Hypomelanistic Hypomelanistic - a genetic reduction in the dark pigment Melanin.

As far as I know there is no such thing as a het hypo in BCI boas so I would think the same goes for rainbow boas. For a boa to care the hypo gene it has to be a hypo. You may want to check it to this more as I would hate for you to get ripped off.

Thanks, Tom! I really appreciate your concern, you're always looking out for everybody! We've researched pretty thoroughly, and hypo in rainbows is like hypo in ball pythons, it's a simple recessive trait, not co-dominant like in BCIs.
