heh, I have above adverage knowledge on snakes and boas, but I am not an expert, and I hear you need to be to own an Emerald, I was thinking of getting one, and I have done my research on the care, but could i get it from a few of you? How hard is it exactly to keep and maintain an Emerald: Housing, Feeding, Humidity,... ?
thanks

Well, a lot of literature that says they are for "experts" mainly deals with the wild caught animals.
Captive born/bred animals are much easier to care for once they are several months old.
You still need to know what your are doing, but "expert" is up to interpretation,
iv'e been working with snakes for 15+ years, and still would hesitate to call myself anything more than a committed hobbyist. (hehe)
As long as you have the correct setup, maintain their humidity, dont stress them too much, and dont overfeed, you would probably be in good shape.
Captive born animals are a little bit more than imports, but I would avoid any imported or wc animals unless you are totally prepared to deal with any issues that may arise.

LOL...hence the name Corallus caninus....you think?
Their requirements are quite a bit more specialized. I've been keeping snakes for a few years and still feel I'm not ready for one of those beauties. If anything happened to it because of keeper error, I would be mortified.

Well, the first thing I would do is spend a few months doing research which you've started obviously
The second thing I would do is go to this site: Corallus.com and read everything you can find there, and spend a lot of time asking questions and observing their forum. From there, you can find just about anything you need to know, including trustworthy breeders, etc.
Good luck. Doing the research and spending the time to get things prepared well in advance is worth the effort:
