Common question, but for Sand Boa
Okay, I am completely new to this site. I think it is awesome. I have a RTB that is doing great, I have a cornsnake that is coming along fine. The other day I was in the pet store and saw a Sand Boa. I fell in love with this little thing and knew a good bit about them and brought the little guy home. He is hiding under substrate. Today was feeding day, I matched my feeding days up with the local pet store because it was just easier for me to do so because everytime I am there I seem to buy a snake.
everyone ate fine except for the Sand Boa, he pretty much ran from the pinkie. I put it in the bin with him and covered it. when I cam back later he was in the opposite corner. He had struck it a time or two (when I bonked him on the head with it, after making it dance for ever), but that was it afterward, just didn't want it. The store feeds f/t just as I do. I had gotten him on Saturday, this is Tuesday night. Do you think he just needed more time to get adjusted to new home? How often do these guys eat? I just looked over and saw he was exploring the viv which is the first time I have seen him do that. Normally he is under water dish. I already got rid of the pinkie and not thawing another one until Thursday, the next feeding day. I will confess that I did get him out of the viv for a few minutes on Monday and that may have interfered in him getting used to his home. I know that I shouldn't worry over one feeding, but I guess I just get nervous over a new snake. I am afraid that I am going to get that one who doesn't eat and needs force fed. anyways, I know the drill, don't get too excited unless it starts to lose weight, don't worry about a missed feeding, what are the stats on the temp and humid, etc. I was just wondering if anyone had any experience with Sands and if they had this problem or if it is just a stressor situation with the new home?
