Calling All Candoia Keepers
This little guy arrived this morning. He was cold and very lethargic. Almost no movement and no tongue flicking. I set him up in a nice warm tub and just checked on him again. He has had all day to warm up but is still lethargic. Doesn't really move at all and still no tongue flicking. I am a bit concerned with the way he is behaving.
Anyone ever deal with candoia? Any ideas on why he is so lethargic? I realize these are not a very active snake but there should eat least be some tongue flicking from it to take in the surroundings.

He is very pretty. Was there a heat pack or something for warmth? This is a very cold time of year to be shipping,I hope he had some source of heat. What temp do you have him at now?I don't know much about this type,I was just thinking the severe temps might have something to do with his problem.
Good luck.

There was a heat pack but he was COLD. There were holes punched thru the sides of the box so it allowed the heat to escape.
I have the thermostat set so the hot side of the tub is at 90.4 right now with a deep bed of cypress mulch to allow him to burry himself.

Update:
I have the heat up, the humidity up, and moist substrate with lots of hides along the way from the cool to the hot side and a large water bowl.
I gave him a nice long soak in warm water before. He appeared to be drinking (and I got the stuck shed off ). He has perked up a bit now and is acting more like a snake than a slug. The tongue is now working and he is moving about more.
I am going to leave him alone tonight and tomorrow and check on him tomorrow night again. He is in a very low traffic area. Only myself goes down there and that is only because he is in QT there now.
I think it is a combination of being young, the stress of shipping, and getting chilled and possibly a bit dehydrated.
He seems right now to be doing much better than a few hours ago. He actually moves now.
