How often to feed.

Okay I'm sure most of you have seen pictures of my dum princess. I've been wondering how often I should be feeding her. The person I got her from didn't know exactly how old she was. I have been wondering if her feeding response would be an accurate way of telling how often she should be feeding.

Almost exactly 30in or 75cm if you're not from The U.S.A. and about as big around as a roll of quarters (maybe a little bigger). I've been going with every 10 days and it seems if I wait just a little longer her feeding response seems to get a little bit stronger. Just wondering if I should wait for the better feeding response or stick with every 10 days.

not exactly sure how fast dums grow but i would thank your right on the money with 10 days if a dum that size is over a year it could go to 14 but again not sure of the groath rate so couldent guss age also the longer you go without eating the beter your feeding responce is to lol

I got this snake with a feeding problem if you didn't read my previous threads (gotta love free snake+equipment). It is my first snake and am trying to make sure everything goes right. I have to say she seems very healthy right now and is about the most docile snake I have ever handled and has eaten for me every time.

Dums grow slow. Adults will only need to eat 12-14 times a year. They will never need to go bigger than rats either. Dums are THE easiest snake to make obese. You should post a pic with a size comparison for us. That will make it easier. To help you get started though: I usually feed mine a F/T rat that is the same size as their biggest part of their body (maybe a touch bigger) once every other week or so...mine are a little over a year old and only pushing 2.5 feet. They aren't a really big snake...some are, but most stay under six feet if not overfed.

Hope this helps!
