got hold of two 80 cm yellow anas about 10 days ago. bita few times when we collected them, but they were being kept in appalling conditions-small little water bowl, no humidity.
seemed to settle down after about a week, then on saturday I was transferring the male to the bath to clean the cage and halfway he turned and .... crunch, six little puncture marks on my finger. stung like #$%^&#$%^&#$%^&#$%^& for a while.
later the female climbed out of the bath and was getting herself entangled in the taps, so my partner reached for her and WHAM, the famed sideways strike. She removed a large piece of skin that bled for quite a while.
on sunday morning tracy was fiddling with the now swelled-up bite and pulled out an anaconda fang from her finger
they are beautiful though ......

Yes they DO!
And from almost any angle possible!
Good thing is , most will tame down after any health probs are cleared up and with lots of handling!

Good luck with the aquatic beasts!

No fangs (was that sarcasm... oh well), just many needle teeth. My baby green hasn't attempted any kind of aggression towards me while i was handling her. I stopped handling her for a few days now coz she is still new and she wont eat. As soon as she starts eating again then the handling will start over.
And by the way, because it lost a tooth, watch for infection!!

thanks. will check (gingerly) for infection. you've taken on a green
how long do you intend keeping it - 10, 20, 30 ft???
I love the annies, they are stunning snakes. Whenever I come near the glass,
they always turn their heads in my direction.
But , jeeeeeez, they are messy!!!!!!!
I am cleaning poo or wee out of their water bowls every day.
By the way, how humid is too humid, and are they susceptible to skin rot?
yes, Lori, I am aware that annies technically don't have fangs
sorry I was in a rush when I posted

It seems as though I'm the only member of this community that has
not taken a shot by a snake. I only own one right now, and everyone
knows tha most bps are not the most aggresive snake in the world.
Anyhow, I've seen friends on the end of a bite, I'm sure everything will
be fine after some quality handling time. Good Luck. Just watch out
for that Helter Skelter.

Yellow annies are said to be a lot more water hardy than greens in terms of blistering. If i recall corectly, yellows don't have any blister problems. I am sure that if you don't keep your water pool clean on a regular basis then that is where trouble starts regardless.
My green will be staying with me till the end. Whatever size/length/weight she gets, great!!
I have an awesome setup of her living quarters planned for when she gets larger. Will be just speechless with her own sunroom made to look naturally reaistic from the wild. Anyway, enough from me...

anyone want to buy two 80cm yellow annies. excellent temperament, just like puppies, only bite occasionally and then only purely because of their playful natures. very clean snakes, preferring to ablute in the water, thereby creating easy housekeeping for you, the proud parent.
c'mon, don't you want two cutey friends for life ??

red...
I for one am surrised that noone commented on this remark/question you posted...

<TABLE BORDER=0 ALIGN=CENTER WIDTH=85%><TR><TD><font class="pn-sub">Quote:</font><HR></TD></TR><TR><TD><FONT class="pn-sub"><BLOCKQUOTE>you've taken on a green
how long do you intend keeping it - 10, 20, 30 ft??? </BLOCKQUOTE></FONT></TD></TR><TR><TD><HR></TD></TR></TABLE>

Reason being that most of us here not only know the specifics of the relative size potential of any snake that we obtain, but also that your statement/question sounds as though the snake in question is one of them disposable pets reptiles for someone to obtain. Just &quot;get rid&quot; of it when it reaches a certain size is all huh? Just for clarification purposes here. Reptiles are NOT disposable pets ! About the only disposable pet you can obtain actually is the well known PET ROCK.

BTW.. If your serious about selling them babies, you may want to place them in our trade forum here. That's where the classifieds such as this type would go.
Also... Just an FYI.. No matter what snake you get..iIF you intend to keep snakes..YOU ARE EVENTUALLY GOING TO GET BIT Allthough there are some ss that are less likely to emit a bite....

I didn't think they had fangs, thought I was missing something when they so nicely open their mouths and hiss is all lol...

errrr, Lori, that was a joke about selling the yellows, as was the comment
about &quot;10,20,30 ft
I was merely showing amazement for anyone willing to take on a potential 10 m snake
My snakes are far more than just pets or pontential money-making breeding stock. I was offered the equivalent of about $450 for one of my 2 female bp's, but couldn't bare tom part with either of them.
The yellows I have taken on was not done lightly. I searched through abvout 500 Google sites about yellow annies, and was well aware of their propensity to nibble human appendages.

I personally feel that their are FAR too many idiots out there who own snakes, people who shouldn't even be allowed to breed, let own something that requires far more than just chucking in a mouse every week and changing the water bowl occsionally.

My snakes are with me until one of us goes to that great big hidey-hole in the sky....
