Hey Rich. Welcome aboard!
What, no pics of the Tarantulas? I thought for sure you'd be modeling one on the shoulder.

Thanks for the welcome. Why are you scared of spiders? No-one has ever died from a Tarantula bite, their venom is designed only to work on rodents. Snakes are much more dangerous, even the smallest snakes have a more painfull bite than a Tarantula. I will be posting a few pics of mine in the Arachnids part of the forum if you want to take a peek.

Hi, Rich, welcome to RTB.
I know no one has actually ever died from a Tarantula bite & they can't hurt you too terribly bad, but you gotta admit, they are slightly creepy... maybe it's the shape of them that affect people the most, they just kind of look like they were designed to crawl right up your leg! *shudder*
I mean, I love all kinds of animals, even the ugly ones, but spiders still freak me out a bit
C'mon, admit it, when you first started doing the spider thing didn't they make the hair on the back of your neck stand up just a little?

You call spiders weird for having 8 legs? Yet you think something with no legs normal?
Strangely enough, Arachnid keepers are only a small minority in the exotic pet keepers world, yet spiders are the pinacle of hunting perfection. They are fast, they can climb, set deadly traps (One of mine got me with an itchy hair trap), flick blinding itchy hair, and they can dig huge burrows. Many are docile, they are cheap to buy, and females can live for up to 30 years.
Here is a pic of one of the more colourful ones.

Nope, not surprising to me!!
I had a rose haired once, and all was fine until he escaped one night. My wife literally made us move when that happened!! I don't mind them, they are just not for me.

Rose hairs are the tamest of the lot. Very easy to handle. You should have made her see sense.
