My Monitors

My Water Monitor.....very tame. I guess 2 yrs old cause I just got him like 6 months ago.





And my Nile Who I've had about 2yrs. since he fit in a 5gallon tank I brought him home in.

Nice lookin critters. Nile looks like hes a tad bit of a tail whipper :P i rescued one a while ago and he was dog tame when i got him, mainly cuz he was on his deathbed. when he got healthy man was he a terror.lol

if youve never seen it its hilarious, unless they hit you with it. It STINGS, bigger monitors will leave a HUGE welt. they actually real up and curl their tail up then let you have it. Kind of like when you whip someone with a damp towel.

And sometimes worse, Ed! Some have a nasty ridge of sharp scales that will tear your skin open. Kate pulls back on her whips because she is using it as a warning. If she used it in actual defense she would cause real damage.

Yeah needless to say i found him a home real quick :P. Ive heard that a good square hit from an adult can actually break bones. Of course im not sure if they were just a wuss, or a lucky shot or something.
