Impaction constapation??
HI guys ..well as you can see from the title I have problems. I was happy Titch was doing as well as he is and rewarded him with a pinkie..since then he's not been to the toilet and isn't well atall! HIs belly looks swollen and he seems in pain when handled (he does what I can only descibe as crocodile death rolls)
I'm phoning vets today to see if any are reptile vets, I've tried putting him in water in the hope that may help but it seemed to cause him sever discomfort.
What can I do to make him go toilet..I need a reptile laxative?
I'm terrified I'm gonna lose him

A visit to a qualified reptile vet would be in the best interest of your pet.

Let us know soon as he sees a vet.

Make sure you know when he does a nice big poopie.

Re: Impaction constapation??
no you only told me that you had an ill monitor nothing else hun.
Which is why I have been worried, it was probably too much for him yet.
but I know that sometimes when my beardie eats a lot at once it takes her a day extra or two to get it through. i was hoping it was the same here, they have quite abit of recillience. glad he's doing better.

Re: Impaction constapation??
HI Just to up date.
Its been a horrid few days but I'm pleased to say there is a big improvement in Titch.
He's now been to the toilet several times poo/urinate OK except 1 looked a little gooey to me?
Titch is moving about normally but mainly he seems to want to bask most. He's not rolling around as he 1st did and is moving about normally, albeit very short distance (perhaps 1ft intervals) then he seems to stop and chill out. My worries now are that he has his eyes closed most of the time as if he's sleeping (is this a sign of pain or dehydration or something?) and he still seems very lethargic.
All I did was give him a pinkie which he wolfed down eagerly and wanted more, was it the pinkie to hard for him to digest, or could he have problems that have only emerged now he had a pinkie (like a time bomb that was waiting to happen)
I have so many questions! Any tips or suggestions greatly appreciated.
I guess time will tell..tho he is much better and seems to be on the mend...slowly
Buck

Re: Impaction constapation??
Well they close their eyes and lie still when pretending to be not a monitor.
Chances are he's still a tad uncomfortable and not as strong so he feels more threatened so when he sees you he's playing dead log. That's what mine do sometimes if I spook him. have you taken him to the vet yet? I would probably say thats the best solution he can check the tummy and maybe give him soemthing to help with any constipation. If he's pooped though he should be somewhat ok I hope. I say vet!
Good luck hun!

I hope you got a necropsy done, many time with monitors this is the only way to help the community, by publishing necropsy results. I am very sorry for your loss, I wish I had read this post first.
