Natural UV will do wonders for keeping it healthy, which means less stress and maybe a better attitude from less stress, but i think the whole attitude will have more to do with everything you do to help it along.
You get out, what you put in, per say, in most cases.

I don't know about a change in temperment but I have read that 15min outside is better for them than 8hrs under a UV bulb.

Hey I just got in from letting him sun. I think he enjoyed it. IN the beginning he was very squirmy and bit my twice. Then I let him swim in our pool for a good 5 minutes and bit me there. Then when taking me out he bit me again!!!! But at the end he seemed to calm down I believe it may have calmed him. But I gotta give the little guy props for how small he is cause those bites smarted lolol

Ok I jsut got back in from another 15 minute lay in the sun with him/her and once again she/he loved it!!!!!! I cannot wait until hes big enough for a leash, or just tame lol. I have never used a leash and not sure he'd appreciate it. But I've seen pics of monitors who use them

As they get older Snakemann87, you have a better chance of him getting more of a bad temper. It appears that you are working with him now, and thats the key. BUT, he needs to have constant handling if you want to have hopes of EVER keeping him tame. It appeared by your post that you thought that he would be tamer as an adult--just wanted to clarify that. Keep in mind, too, that although you have a Savannah monitor (known to be the most docile of the monitors), he may never be tame, much less take a walk with you on a leash.

Are we refering to a swimming pool here? That much chlorine and other fun chemicals cannot be too good for any reptile. I would not reccomend letting any lizard or snake swim in a pool.
If you mean like a kiddy pool full of tap water, it would be better, but a real live swimming pool is a bad idea.

Does anybody know if there is any studies to back this ratio up? I've heard it around as well and was curious to know...
Thanks!
