[img]modules/Forum/images/smiles/icon_confused.gif[/img] i have had a sav monitor for about a month and its about 6 to 7 inches long. i have been feeding it crikets and cat food but has no interst in the cat food what else should i feed it and when should i feed it pinkies? also about how old is it and how fast do they grow . when i frist got it it would just chill in my hands and fall asleep but the one time i let my bro hold it it jumped out of his hands and ran under the couch now it jumps out of my hands and wheni go to pet it it flatens out and moves fast like its going to snap at me but dosnt snap i donno if that makes sence. but i need help if anyone has any answers of tips please tell me of e mail me it should be shown if not its spoiledbbrat12@aol.com [img]modules/Forum/images/smiles/icon_confused.gif[/img]

You can try feeding him pinkie mice. Cat food often has too much fat. As far as handling, they can be quite skittish as babies. Just make sure that he is LIGHTLY restrained when you are holding him.

I would say hitting 12 inches would be more like a years growth.
Mine went from 4 inches to a little over six since I have had him. At this rate, he should hit the foot mark in about 10 to 12 months. He has gotten stockier but length wise, not as much of a change.

okay new problem i can not get the cage up over 80 degrees it was fine untill a week ago and then i donno i went and bough new light a heat one day glow night glow and a vitime one that they said would be good . i also have a heating pad but still cant get it over 80 its not like my room is cool but i need to no how long he'll be okay and what i should get even if i names it already please tell me again if u have any tips

Large Flood lamps are a good way to give him the hot basking spot he needs. Describe the enclosure you have him in. Is it glass, wood or plastic? How large? Will the lamps be inside or hanging over it?

to tell u the truth i have no clue how bit it is is about 1 and a half foot wide and 5 foot long so its pretty big for the little guy but its getting better on the heat the hot spot is 97 .
the new thing hes doing is when is stand over him he often bulges out his eyes . i donno it seems almost like there just ganna pop its that due to stress or what ??? is it normal
