Hey, I was just curious as to what you feed your savannahs?? I have my two little guys on insects only. Also a pic of you savannah would be cool and if you tell me what you feed them, could you state the age also. Thanks

This is his 'I read it and know it, but I want to start a big stink about it by asking anyway' tactic that he pulled last time. Everyone save your breath on the 'research first' replies please.
Melissa Kaplan, as usual, has a pretty decent site on Savannah monitor care. There are also many others out there, do a Google search.
My sav gets mainly crickets, giant mealies, nightcrawlers, and rodents (mice/rats/gerbils/hamsters). She's a trash can, she will eat pretty much anything at all, I'll sometimes even throw in some chicken. Just provide a variety, and keep it in moderation and your sav should do just fine.

I have no idea what the heck your talking about. Read it more thouroghly. I said i was wondering what you feed your savs?? I said i have my guys on insects STRICTLY. This is just a post to see what others feed theirs cause i know the controversy as what to feed savannahs. I guess i cant post without someone finding something wrong with my post, even though nothing is wrong.

There really isn't much of a debate anymore. It has been pretty much quashed by the simple lack of fatty liver disease in savs that are on a primarily rodent diet and get the proper amount of exercise. You'll see many fat savs out there though, and that can usually be directly attributed to cage life - with little or no chance to do what savs do, wander around a lot. For added variety give eggs (raw or hard boiled depending on what kind of mess you are willing to clean up) and ground turkey a shot too.
