A good portion of my tegu's tail doesn't seem to be shedding. He has had two sheds since I noticed that it wasn't coming off. It hasn't gotten to the point where its constricting, but its obvious that there is skin there that shouldn't be. I've tried soaking him many times, rubbing across it, even lightly scratching to see if I can even get it started, but no luck with anything. I don't get it. I'll try to get a good pic of it to post soon, but it might be a couple of days.

hmm... I don't know much about tegus. What is the humidity like in his enclosure? Does he have a water bowl big enough for his entire length? Maybe using a little olive or grapeseed oil on it would help soften it to slough off....

Humidity needed to get a good clean shed off of my tegu is usually around 75% - and they greatly appreciate a big water bucket they can sit in whenever they want. Repeated daily soaking for an hour or two will help soften it up, and hopefully it'll come off with the next shed. Don't pick at it too much, you may end up damaging the good skin or worse, pull off the tip of the tail - which is not uncommon when skin gets retained there for a long period of time.

Whoops, sorry guys. Thanks for the info, but I managed to get it off a few days ago. I just soaked the tar out of his cage for a couple of days and it came off fine. Thanks again.
I'll have to post updated pics soon.
