savannah monitor success
I've been kinda busy but I've finaly got a day to update you all on my threads and what not, I also have yet to introduce my new little sav (who is actually been with me for just about a month now) when I got him he was hissy, whippy, bitey, bitey & bitey. if I walked into the room he would hiss and whip the glass... I'm 20ft away from him!!! he bit my boyfriend but not me, yet. hopefully not ever either...
anyways, that was then. It's almost been a month now and I've been working with him everyday. I've been trying some of my own taming tecniques and I have to admit.... amazing success. I won't say he's perfect now or ever, but jeez he is getting there! He is out all the time now, I always have him with me while I'm watchin tv, video games, computer (on my lap right now sleepin) and he is soo much better, I barely ever hear him hiss now. he hasn't whipped in over a week... and he's grown almost 2 inches! even if he's been basking all day and super hot, he's great. I'm pretty sure he's twice as fat too, well not quite but I'm happy he's doing so good with me. here's some pics of my little kretos! he's a new fave for sure

Re: savannah monitor success
It needs much more dirt, if it ends up being a female it will not have good nesting sites which can cause problems like peritonitis and dystocia.

Re: savannah monitor success
yah I will add more dirt for sure, when I moved him to this tank I only had 2 blocks of eco earth to spread out accross the bottom, it's thicker under his other hide but yes, you're right... I've got a huge bag of topsoil now, I'll switch him over today most likely now that he's much more comfortable. thanks!

Re: savannah monitor success
razz; kretos and his top soil/sand mix base, eco earth layer accross the top (4 inches thick + another 3 inches for hills) = happy sav

I made some hills and layered it for some deffinition, however he still loves that plant more than anything
