Sweet Baby Nile
Meet little Ramses.
He's a Common Nile Monitor, and he's actually sweet.
This is an old picture of him, he's a meter long now and still sweet.
He's harness trained and enjoys walks, even my kids can walk him!
He has never shown any aggression towards anyone.
I've never heard of a Nile being like this.
o.O
Has anyone else had Niles like this?
Is there something wrong with him?

Re: Sweet Baby Nile
I havent heard of any monitors being controlled on leashes. I have heard them more or less walking their owners on leashes though. They kind of just go where they want to. cute little guy

Re: Sweet Baby Nile
Well, there's weirdos in every bunch I suppose, lol. I love the way Niles look, but the size and likely aggression means I'll never have one. Sounds like you lucked out with yours!

Re: Sweet Baby Nile
What are them temps in the enclosure?
Basking, cool, ambient.
I have seen "tame" niles, that is until they warmed up. LOL.

I hear ya, thats why so many snakes at pet stores are "calm" they are too cold to be fiesty. As soon as the people get them home and get them warm they get mean, hmm wonder why ...

Re: Sweet Baby Nile
You may have lucked out, but it may be sick. As long as it is eating and growing I would not worry about it too much. How ever leash training is a bad idea, I tried it with a sturdy dog harness and the monitor still got out of it. Should your nile spook out side it will break the leash or find a way out of it, and be gone like greased lightning. In your home it would be o.k. but outside or in another's house I would not do it.
