Re: What is your fav monitor?
I am a fan of the larger breeds. My favorite would probably be first a salvator, then salvadorii, komodoensis, giganteus, albigularis, niloticus, panoptes and then all the rest

Re: What is your fav monitor?
Size wise if you can handle a salvator a komodo is not much bigger. How ever CITES laws will prohibit most keepers from legally keeping one.

Re: What is your fav monitor?
I like the big breeds too but I like indo species best. I like some african species too but indos rock! I think the crocs, laces, niles are really fast and have huge nails plus they can do some damage I wouldent really want to play with another lace again. I think monitors are better off as a display pet. I think a 25lb monitor may sound light but they are pure muscle! LOL

I've always been a big fan of Black throats. But then again, they all are pretty neat.

Re: What is your fav monitor?
I love the Green Tree and Blue Tree Monitors...but they're quite a bit out of my experience range. I also love Lace monitors, which are out of my price range, and Water Monitors, which are out of my size range. So pretty much all my favorites I can't or won't own. Such is life, lol.

"goannas" is the Australian term for all monitor lizards, derived from Iguana. I believe you are talking about the perentie or varanus giganteus. If I am wrong please correct me.

Re: What is your fav monitor?
Favorite:
Argus (very bold and curious), dumerils (the ones I have had were very laid back and the females were extremely calm), Ackies (small but active), croc monitors (impressive)
Least Favorite:
Savannas (sorry sav owners), timors (empty cage syndrome), croc monitors ( clickity click)
