Re: Monitor lizards
Ackie/Ridge/spiny tail monitors (Varanus Acanthurus) stay small. Do you have any experience with lizards?

Re: Monitor lizards
I work at CDW i can get you some LCD's?
I would get a Beardie if i were you!!!
or an Timor.
you are going to want to stay small and purchase all the required
enclosure product and supplies first. Don't buy a monitor unless
you already have everything you need to keep it healthy first.

Re: Monitor lizards
Do some research then come back Monitors arnt something to decide to get overnight and require a large enclosure and a lot of husbandry needs. I mean Ive been working on a large enclosure for 1 month now and I dont even have them and they will not be going into it until they reach 6 months. They take a lot of preparing for to get their enclosures right and arnt cheap to keep.
I mean having 3 blackheaded monitors I will be getting 250 crickets a week + my roaches + pinkies
3 Blackheaded monitors will cost 5X what it costs to feed 40 geckos a week and blackheaded are dwarfs

Re: Monitor lizards
I recently bought a monitor, and i can tell you they are something you need to put a lot of thought into before buying. Not that i am one to go on preaching about long forethought, but trust me, buying one without through research is a bad idea. If you have never had a lizard, you are out of your league (no offense) If you are new to lizards, get a beardie. Cute, lovable, and an easy first. The one i just bought, the enclosure cost so far is reaching $300, and that's just the basic supplies needed for construction and animal health involved with the enclosure. But if you have experience and cash to burn, think about it. And if you are still optimistic, i would say go for it. But no herp exp = no monitor.

Re: Monitor lizards
He did say "Small Monitor". I don't think he's planning on getting something Savannah sized +. But then I again, I don't want to answer for him. Ackies and Timors

Re: Monitor lizards
Make no mistake small monitors are easier but less likely to be handled or be as easy to care for as a bearded dragon, water dragon, uromastyx, tegu, baslisk, or many other lizards.
