Forum is slow so here are some pics
This is the Dumeril girl I got earlier this month.

Here she is talking to me. She doesn't like my wife and hisses at her. My wife snapped this picture before leaving me and the girl alone.

After my wife left with the camera the dumeril climbed on me and on top of the enclosure. She seems very relaxed around me and even comes to me. She never hissed after my wife left and showed absolutely no sign of tail whipping or biting. I even am able to pet her on the head and back. She will eat from my fingers, too.
I wish the rest of my monitors were calm like her.

How Pretty.
I also know that Raze would like to see this one.
I would like to think of him as a guru of monitors.
Correct me if I'm wrong Raze.

Thanks, Generally females get to around 3 feet and males can get a little over 4. There tail is so long that a 4 foot dumeril is not as big as a 4 footer in some other monitors.
She is smaller than my 3 foot argus female.

I always enjoy seeing Ed's pictures, but his Argus and Salvator always make me so envious. As far as the "guru", not so much. Now that real keepers like Ed, Crocdoc, Mrcota, and Sam Sweet are here, you will find me answering less because they have it covered.
Ed fantastic observations and pictures. All of our aggressive monitors have been equal opportunity attackers

Thanks Tom, but I am not in their group either.
Chad, The enclosure that she is in is temporary. It is 4X3.5X4. I will build her a larger one in the very near future. The best picture of my old dumeril enclosure is:

Of course it went through many variations while I had them. The little house (box) in the back was totally useless. They dug burrows and never used it.
For size comparison here is my old 4 foot male:

And my old 3 foot female:

Re: Forum is slow so here are some pics
Very nice Ed, you are in that category because you have at least bred some varanids Which monitor have you kept the longest and for how long?

Well, I have had one hatch out of a bunch of eggs. Hopefully there will be more in a month or so.
I think the longest was the male Dumeril for 2 years before I traded him for the argus. I really wish I had him now. Don't get me wrong, I love the argus since they are my favorite monitors, but I really would like to have that male back.
