Re: MY monitor isnt eating now???

How big is the black throat now? When they start to get big they will start to ignore crickets. It may be stressed from the soak and be hiding from you. Monitors can have long memories, and it may take a while for it to become settled again. If it has only been a few days, I wouldn't worry. Give it some time and the monitor should come around.

Growing monitors will shed constantly and will eat while shedding.

Can you post pictures of it?

Ed

Re: MY monitor isnt eating now???

Thanks for responding ed,He is a little over 1 ft maybe 15 inches and about 3 inches wide at his back he is getting fat.It all started friday he ate only 12 and went to sleep. Then i found a rock to make the basking spot bigger and yes i baked the rock for a hr at 470 it took 2 hrs to cool lol.Anyway cleaned his cage made the basking spot soaked him put him back in and he tail whipped me.So today he was sleeping until i came in and checked on him hissed again then he finally was on the fake log getting some heat.So maybe he is big and doesnt want crickets anymore and wants mice he loves mice.....Maybe its me i worry too much about my reptiles and pets,Sorry for the long respond!George

Re: MY monitor isnt eating now???

Big George you will see this happen when you feed a reptile until it is full. Eventually they stop eating and have to digest. Give him a few days and when he is hungry he will eat. Unless the monitor starts losing weight or stops growing do not worry if they do not eat every day, every 3 days, every week and so on.

They eat when they are hungry.
