V. Tristis Tristis
Anyone have any experience with them? I know their care is very similar to ackies but I just wanted to know if anyone on these forums had any experience with them. Thanks in advance

Re: V. Tristis Tristis
I wish I had experience with them. I have seen a few, but that is it.
I would love to have a trio, but not bad enough to actually spend all that money for them.

Ya, the only reason I am looking at ackies a little bit more is that I heard they are less shy and a lot more docile.

This is a big reason I wanted to get a trio so I can sit back and observe all of them interact with eachother.

Re: V. Tristis Tristis
Beautiful pictures Dave, mind if I save them to my desktop? Rachel and I are building a new enclosure and that has some amazing ideas in it.

no, not at all. There's a pool and a waterfall in the back, not really visible.

Re: V. Tristis Tristis
We had one at my herp shop for about 7 months when I first started working there. He was my absolute FAVORITE monitor I have ever worked with. He randomly came in on an order (we didn't order him, and he just showed up in our box), and instead of sending him back, we kept him. It took a while for him to sell, but dude, he was the most docile lizard I've ever experienced. From day one he didn't try to run or anything when you handled him. He would put up with pretty much anything we wanted to do, and he turned into a little fatty while he was with us. I dunno if he was somebodys pet at the place where we order our reptiles from, but he was pretty amazing. I would have bought him if it wasn't for the rather large price tag... he went to a local breeder, I'm still waiting for some of his babies...We named him zit, and took lots of pictures of him. Here's a pic:
If it were up to me, I'd go with the trio of blackheads instead of ackies. I LOVE ackies, but its really hard to find people who breed blackheads (I've tried!). I'll buy a baby from you

Thanks everyone for your help and pictures. I am 90% sure that I am going to go with Blackheads because they are unique and something you dont see very much. Only thing holding me back is I love the color tone on the red ackies
Housing = 55 gallon as hatchlings
6X3X4.5 enclosure as adults (being built now)
