Savanna Pics!
This is my little sav...he's doing well, eating like a pig, and his colors are perking up as well. He has a nice bluey grey color to him. His tail is looking better too, although I'm still not sure if he'll end up keeping it or not.
I finally got some dirt for him, so his cage will be cleaned out tomorrow. It looks like heck right now, he's been scattering cricket bits and shed skin all underneath his little hidey hole, which I took out for today's feeding.

Re: Savanna Pics!
It is beautiful! The back leg looks like it has retained skin but proper humidity will loosen it up over time. Congrats on the rescue and I wish you the best of luck.

Keep us informed he looks like he should be doing well soon. Especially with as good of a companion as you.

Re: Savanna Pics!
I got him as a rescue of sorts, our neighbor was looking to get rid of him and my husband brought him home. I had to take him to the vet to be wormed, he had a tick on him, and his tail tip may or may not be lost, since he had a really bad stuck shed on it. He's doing much better now though.

Re: Savanna Pics!
Okay I can't take it.
Why are his neck scales so freaky looking. I have weird phobias and they're actually causing me to have have a stab of fear and panic.
I can't explain that part, but please tell me they don't naturally look like that. Because I've wanted a Sav, but not if the neck scales look like that O_________O

LOL! Yes, the scales are naturally bigger on the neck. I don't know why...maybe raze or DBZ could fill you in on that. He's a bit underweight though, so that might be making them stick out more, and he hasn't had a good scrub in the bath yet either. To be honest, I don't even notice it anymore.
You're not the first person that's asked me that though, do they look extra weird to anyone else?

Re: Savanna Pics!
Well it doesn't look so bad when they don't resemble parasites or larve under the skin...
Still...

Re: Savanna Pics!
I prefer the scales of Indonesian monitors and Asian monitors, to African monitors any day. African monitors are ugly in my opinion, but they frequently need homes. I guess I will be good if Rachel and I have ugly kids, I will just have to teach them to change tires.
