I was just wondering who here kept monitors also. I know Morti has Kate the Nile rescue. I personally keep 9 monitors myself.

5 salvators (water monitors)
2 rudis (black rough necks)
2 ackies

I know this is a snake place by population. I don't have any snakes at the monent. I am really considering a surinam or two but the monitors take up so much of my time.

Later all, and happy new year!!

Dang! 5 water monitors! I bet they take up a lot of space as well as time!

I'm waiting patiently for space & money to get a pair of Varanus Prasinus - a couple years in the future sadly...

Hi and welcome to RTB!! Yes, most of us keep snakes here, but we love ALL reptiles!! I'm not sure of how much you have navigated around the site, but if you go to the top of this page, click on select forum, and we have a area just for monitors....look for Lizards-monitors. There you will find lots of helpful info, and you can also see who has monitors there.

BTW, if you are running low on time as it is with the monitors, then maybe you should wait longer before getting a snake. All another reptile will do to you is take up more of your time. Good luck and, once again, welcome!!

Definately worth the wait I am sure.

Yes, I have 5 waters. The biggest is right about 4 feet now. I still have a little (very little) time to get their adult enclosures ready.

Best of luck to you with the green tree monitors. Have you seen the blue ones?

Gene
