Wow...
Cairo sure has a very.... distinct.... odor.
I've been handling him every day(My arm is working on being ripped to ribbons, but I'll remedy that once I think I can trim his nails without pulling back a bloody stump) and have noticed he's got one heck of a small to him. Certainly not like pancakes, however.
I'm certain it's entirely normal, and I'm not complaining, just noticing. o.O
Pyeeeew! His cuteness makes up for it, and his winning personality.

Re: Wow...
No Aunt Jemima for you
He sounds all sorts of adorable with or without the smell Don't think I'll ever be one to own a large clawed lizard though :P I get beat up enough by my cat.

Re: Wow...
Thankfully, I don't like cats (Contrary to what the short-haired black cat upstairs will tell you) so I don't own any... And my dog hardly beats me up. That leaves the job to stinky lizards. LOL
Man what an odd smell though. Do females give off a smell, or is it just "sav stench"? lol

Re: Wow...
We fostered a heeuge sav for a few weeks...he had a bit of a stink to him too, but we would pop him in the bathtub and give him a scrub with an old toothbrush and it seemed to help. Plus he loved it. If savs could purr, he would have. Then again he was a sweety...bath time might not be such a good idea with yours.

Re: Wow...
haha..for the nails, try putting a piece of slate for the basking spot so when he moves on the basking spot, it will dull his nails a bit. plus slate will get a basking spot of 120+ with ease.

Re: Wow...
*nod* he's got a big rock in on his basking spot. He seems to be hugging the cool side this morning though. I just got a video of me cleaning his mouth where it's raw, and the aftermath that is my arm.
Sorry guys, but I managed to keep all my fingers. It's uploading onto youtube right now.

So yeah, sorry about the phone. Rude, I know, but far better than the first 4 tries. lol
Oh! And here's the "aftermath" video.

Nice vid!
My dog does the same thing, anytime I mess with the reptiles she thinks she needs to be right there.

Re: Wow...
lol, yeah. I'm just glad my dog listens to me as well as he does.
For some reason Cairo makes him really nervous. He ended up laying down next to the camera and just watching everything. He's a cutie.

He is a cutie, and I scoped out your feeding and training video very intelligent dog and great communication between the both of you. The end of the feeding video was funny "C'mon mom we both know I can sit but can I please eat?"

Yeah, I promise I'm not that mean to him every night. Only sometimes.
He's currently sleeping on all the pillows on my bed. He is certainly not at a loss for "the good life".

Re: Wow...
Haha I didn't figure you were, he seems quite happy. My aunt and uncle on my fathers side are blind so I grew up around well trained seeing eye dogs, I always appreciate well trained dogs who love listening for the sake of it, or for food

Re: Wow...
lol, no worries... my dog is probably the only thing I like talking about more than my reptiles! He's the love of my life, that's for certain...
I had almost forgotten how much hand sanitizer stung in open lizard wounds. Ow. Ow. Ow.

My shepherd seemed especially nervous about the sav we fostered too. Anytime I got near the cage she was standing there on full alert, whining and giving a little bark, like "Mom, are you SURE that's ok?"
And lol about the hand sanitizer. I always forget when I have little nicks on my hands, then I have to do the little hissy hand shaking dance.

Re: Wow...
LOL!
I do the squeak-hiss-whimper arm flapping dance, with cuts like these in my arms. Only worse time was when my iguana bit a quarter-sized hole in the top of my arm. It wasn't -too- bad, I was mostly just skinned, but it still hurt when I put sanitizer on it. x_x Rather a lot, actually. x_x

Well, done!
You need your own show on Animal Planet.

Thank you, but somehow I don't think I'm quite professional enough to do my own show for AP. :P
One day though, with luck.
