A few pictures
I was changing some enclosures today and took some pictures.
I hate aquariums, but they should be ok for a while.

I moved the water into the ackie enclosure.

I just put the thermometer in there and the water had to check it out.

Re: A few pictures
Great pics! One days I will own one of those crazy things!
That's the first time I've seen leaves in the cage. Are there any steps that you take prior to putting them in the tank? I know the same precautions for boas do not necessarily apply with monitors and other reptiles. I'm just curious.

I bought the soil in the argus enclosure from a local place that sells dirt and mulch. An entire pickup load is in the argus enclosure. The other enclosures have a mix of topsoil from the same place and sand. I want to put the same soil that is in the argus enclosure in the other ones. It is much better for the monitors needs and less messy when wet.

If you are talking about the leaves, no not really. I tried to shake the leaves to get any bugs off, but I didn't really worry about it. The leaves are on top of the dirt so the water can burrow into or under the leaves if it wants.

Re: A few pictures
Correct me if I'm wrong, but is that larger monitor an ackie, or am I just seeing things? Some of them look so similar...
I ask because I am actually getting one in a week! If that's an Ackie then that's the biggest one I've ever laid eyes on...lol

Re: A few pictures
I am sorry. I should have stated what each monitor was. The first picture is of my ackies. The next monitor is a young water monitor. And the last pictures are of my argus pair.
Thanks for the comments on them.

Re: A few pictures
Awesome pictures Ed. Can you post the pic with the wooden lid in the cage section, snake keepers need to learn how to do that. If ever there was a properly set up aquarium for reptiles that would be it.
Great post.
Brandon27 leaf litter is very common in monitor cages, I suggest before getting one you do a ton of research they are far more difficult than any snake.
