Some pictures of other monitors
Here are some more pictures of my monitors.
This is a black tree monitor. Someone locally did not want it anymore and asked me to buy it from them. I will find it a permanent home this spring after I fatten it up and take care of the nose rub. This was taken as I was putting it in the enclosure.

I took this picture of my ackies an hour ago. They were both special cases when I acquired them. They are doing great now!

This water monitor came today. It is captive bred by reptileguru.com and is surprisingly not shy. I may name it Piglet since it has already eaten like a pig.

Wonderful pictures of great critters. Good for you for taking such good care of them. The ackies in the second picture seem inordinately fond of each other.

Re: Some pictures of other monitors
Yes the ackies are breeding in that picture. Hopefully some eggs will come from it, but she did not lay last time. I don't know if she didn't have a good enough laying area or if she isn't able to lay. She has had a rough life and has no toes on her front feet from poor husbandry at a previous keepers. The male also had problems and needed a trip to the vet when I acquired him.
Here are a couple more pictures of the black tree. You can see the bad mouth rub she had when we got her. Current pictures don't turn out well through the scratched plexiglass on her enclosure.
She is very well adjusted for a monitor known for shyness. I see her every day. She doesn't run when we look in at her, but she will get behind something and peek around at us when we open her enclosure.

Re: Some pictures of other monitors
Great job at rescuing the black tree monitor. That is a house full you have there, I don't know how you find the time. I have 2 monitors and 2 snakes and they can consume all of my free time, not to mention I can't find a sitter should I have to go anywhere.

Re: Some pictures of other monitors
Kev, the cage has not started yet. I have been researching material and we should be starting it very soon. If you look in the cage section, there is a post about building a retic cage and it will explain what I have been looking into for doors and viewing windows.
As soon as you can find someone competent to help you with Precious, Rachel and I may take you up on babysitting.
DRZRIDER have you tried the Mazuri diet for your monitors? We picked up some of the insectivore diet to try and stimulate appetite in our sav, and so far have had no luck.

Re: Some pictures of other monitors
I have not tried that diet. I feed crickets and fuzzy mice to the small monitors and large mice or small rats to the argus. We have a freezer full of frozen feeders, 3 rubbermade containers with crickets, and 16 breeder rats in a rack system.
Oh and you mentioned free time earlier. I do not know what free time is. HAHA
Thanks everyone for the comments on the black tree.
