ok when my savanna poops he has little white things floating in the water dish. (his crap place of choice) im assuming these are tape worms. now i know how easy it is to pass worms on to me and all my other animals. and to be frank i dont want to deal with worming 5 lizards, a frog, 2 rtbs, ferrets cats and a dog and of course me and my family. so how difficult will theis be. geting a fecal will be difficult considering he only craps in his water dish. so do you guys have any ideas?

I would get the next poo out with mabye a disposable fork, just put a smaller water dish in for a couple days so he can't poo in it, then take the feces to a good herp vet for an exam (usually $10-$15). Make sure the poo is no older than a day, To keep it fresh over night put it in the fridge . Exams are usually pretty quick, 20-30 min, so you can usually get the results right there. Does the monitor eat any live rodents, if so I would get him over to frozen, as live rodents can pass internal parasites like the ones you suspect. -Juggalo

well im not an expert on worms, but id definatly get him checked, if you saw them once or a million times in his poo. like jig said..just grab it with somethin disposable, and bag it. just make sure you wash your hands before touching anything else, and keep his cage clean. if you are careful your other reptiles wont get them.. just make an appt with your vet to bring him in, and take a fresh sample with ya..as fresh as ya can get anyways. i had a savannah monitor so i know how difficult the poop in the water deal can be..lol but anyways..good luck
