rescued savanna
i got a sav monitor from a pet store, i know its not good to encourage that but he probly would have died, when i picked him up to look at him, he has no fat on him what so ever , you can see his hipbones sticking out, you can count each vertbrae (spelling) in his tail , he has burns on his feet from the heat rock they had him on , i got him home and checked over he had a tick in his ear me and my friend helped be got it out, then we gave him a bath and let him soak for 30 min , wile we set up a cage for him after we put him in it he pooped but it was just water, so i dont think he was fed for a wile ,after 2 days i tryed to feed him a med mouse he wouldnt take it i tryed braining the mouse to see if it would make it for apptizeing to him and nothing, can anybody help with suggestions for geting him to eat ,myfriend suggested blending up a mouse, sum crix, and vitimons, and sum eggs and few other stuff for fat like hamberger meat .
he is about 2ft long weights about 2lbs very underweght ill post pix lil later

I hate to say it but you are only helping support those cruel pet stores by buying it off of them.
If it dies in their hands its a loss, but when you buy it off them its their gain obviously.
I wish you best of luck, but I thought I'd add my 2¢ as always.
Any pics?

If he has a blister in his mouth, you are probably right that it is too sore to eat. When we rescued a Sav. the vet said give it a SMALL amount of canned dog food.....Good luck and an easy way to not be tempted to purchase poorly cared for pet store critters is to not go to that store .(That's how I avoid it)
Good luck

He looks to be a wild caught subadult.
The tick... I hope you were very careful when removing it, it could have been carring a disease from Africa . I would get this guy to a vet as soon as possible for a fecal check and general health exam. Get some weight on him and get him dewormed if needed.
I took in about 14 of these guys a few years back, but only 4 survived. I was given them from a petstore that had to sort through the dead to get these out.
Here is a post about the first savannah rescue I got.

have you offered pinkies? leave them over night and be sure the sav can not see you. some are very shy eaters and will die of starvation before eating in front of you.
