Argus Monitor info?
I was thinking about getting one of these, but have read about them and everyone is saying there not begginer monitors. Is it because they have a mild temperment? or just hard to maintain? Im a snake kind of guy(0.1 RTB,0.0.1 Brazilian Rainbow boa) but have two bearded dragons,2 cresteds,1 leopard. Ive been looking at these for the past year but never really took into concideration of getting one.. I know they get big and would require alot of attention and space. Im not afraid of getting bit or scratched to help calm down the temper, but would I have to deal with that the whole time I have it or does it wear off? Also if anyone has any pics of these full grown I would really like to see them.
Thanks
Rich

I don't know much about them either, but Razeraze is a very experienced/knowledgable monitor keeper. He could point you in the right direction. Good Luck

sorry our recent loss and the holidays have put me behind on answering.
argus are the "fire crackers" of the monitor world. famous for their tri-pod and furious feeding response. they are seldom recommended for beginners.
husbandry is pretty much the same as with most monitors. if you need detailed information go to varanusnl and ask for krusty or shay.

Argus monitors are definitely not for a beginner. We had a breeding pair a while back and although ours were quite tame compared to most they would still just as soon bite your hand as they would have you pet them.
I can post some pictures tonight when I get home. Only pictures I have here are of an adult Flavi monitor we had.
If you have any specific questions just shoot me a message. I don't want to write some big long post of information you don't really need.
