R.I.P Lecter my black throat
so today started out like normal, when into my room opened up his cage he hissed at me and i petted him. normal day. about four hours later i went to give him a rat one of my snakes refused. he was in the corner curled up and wheni went in to his cage he didnt move i figured he was ignoring me but when i threw the rat at him he still didnt move. im sure you all can figure out where this is going.
Lecter has been my best friend for the last three years. ive had him since he could fit in a 20l and now he is around 6ft. hes never been a totally tame monitor but i loved the understanding we had. he trusted me. and only me. he had stayed with some friends last year while my living arrangments got screwy and never trusted them like he did me. our time together was so short but i loved every minute of him.

OMG! I'm sorry to hear about you loss! How did it happen? He seems too young to die of natural causes...was he sick or recovering from anything?

honestly he was perfect three or four hours ago. i dont know what happened. im hoping to get a necropsy done this week. thank god for good friends with reptile fridges

i lost my favorite monitor(flavirufus, or rufus for short) last year due to a gut impaction..i was shattered and i still get misty when i see pics of him..
