Question Heating pad/stone questions

Ive been thinking about getting a heating pad/stone, and i want to know if you know of any that are thermo-regulated or somthing so they won't give burns. Also, would i put the pad under or on top of the substrate? Any help would be great!

Dachande is on a distinguished road
i have a heat rock in my reptile room. it makes a good door-stop. and that's the best use i can think of for a heat rock. why they keep making and selling them, i'll never understand.
heat pads stick to the bottom of the tank. but you will need a thermostat to adjust temps for you. and get the tank lifted above the pad so itr doesn't build up too much heat.
i personally don't use either. once a heat pad is on a tank it stays until the adhesive wears out for whatever reason.
what is it you are going to keep on the pad? a snake or monitor. i'm guessing monitor as this is in the monitor forum. if that's the case i say use outdoor halogen floodlights. they work best for monitors.
