Meet Ranger
Here is my newest baby, he/she is a Black Throat Monitor we called ranger I am 90% sure he is a W/C monitor so we have treated him with Fenbendazole. He is sooo cute, and I've missed having a monitor, last last one I had was a ornate nile I had 3 years ago.
Here is his cage for now it's 45" X 21" X 18", for the substrate we went with black earth mixed with mulch.
Here he/she is rigth now he is 305 grams & 2 feet long.

not sure what black earth is. but no need for fenbendazole. get basking temps over 120F and it will kill parasites. especially internals like worms. the body temp gets too hot for them, but okay for the monitor.

Does the same temp for killing worms apply to Savannahs and Spiny Tail Iguanas Dachande?

.
That's a great tip.. we medicate too often!
.
As for your new monitor.. lots of people fail with these, or give up. I think that an adult monitor like yours and some of the related species, well-kept and tame are simply some of the neatest things on the planet!.
.
Good luck with your new pet.

monitors are one of the few lizards that use (much less tolerate) those temps. i wouldn't use it on any other species. even bearded dragons can't take that for too long. i've seen monitors sit on basking spots above 130F after a meal for over a 1/2 hour.

I work with Sauromalus sp. and used to breed the Uromastyx, they also love the high temps. It was possible to observe them steaming from the mouth when they were basking.
.
Regards.

there is no such thing as tame. only tolerant.
keep it away from the dog. even if it seems they tolerate eachother, accidents still happen.
