New Savannah Monitor...
First of all I am working on the pics. Will be a few days. That having been said...let me tell you what happened. First I have been thinking about getting a Savannah as my first lizard. I was at a certain P-named pet store today to pic up some supplies. Anyways as I was paying for my things, I see a 30 gallon cage with a juvenile Savannah Monitor and a sign saying "free Savannah monitor and cage setup". So I asked the cashier if that sign meant what it said and if the water bowl, heat pad, cage, and uvb bulb came with it and he said "Yes". I then did a thorough exam of the animal and asked why it was being given away. The animal first was in great condition. No mites, or other visible parasites, good active tongue/alert, good weight, no scars and pretty docile when I was holding him during the exam. The reason it was left was that the owner was off to Iraq and had to get rid of it and could not find a home for him. So I called my wife, talked to her about it and came home with hime. My wife named him Victor Hugo, after the writer. So that is my story. Went for supplies and came home with a great animal.

Oh that is great danny!!!!
They are terrific...of course I havent had mine for very long, but from what all I have heard they are the best of the monitors especially for a 1st timer..
They are gluttons too 
Make sure you get it checked for parasites, they tend to have a few of those as well..
UV is really debatable, everyone I have spoken with says its not necessary, but Im a "better safe than sorry" person, so I take mine out in an outdoor pen we made
Cant wait to see pics of Victor Hugo Congratulations!

Congrats. Although I am very jealous. All you people are not helping with my want for a savie. I think I may be able to convince my husband soon though. At least he is looking at pics of them, and is asking questions about them. That's a good sign coming from him. LOL. I can't wait to see some pics!!!
